Some weddings have a detail that changes the entire emotional weight of the day. For Shannon and Sarp's wedding at Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya, that detail came at the end of the night — when Shannon dedicated her bouquet to her mother on her birthday. In a room of 73 people who had just spent the last three hours dancing and celebrating, it stopped everything. And it said more about who Shannon is than any posed portrait ever could.
Getting ready — and the billiards room idea that worked.
Shannon started her morning with the VO Beauty Bus at 7:30am — off-resort, relaxed, and back at the hotel by 1:30pm. By 2pm, the cameras were rolling in the bridal suite: accessories, robe shots, the dress going on, final portraits, and the first look with her dad that happened before any of the formal photography began. Deanna and Greg Paradine — married, present, and exactly the kind of parents who make a getting-ready room feel full.
Sarp got ready in a family room at 3:45pm — his parents Sebu and Yigit, his sister, niece, and nephew all there with him. The billiards room idea for groomsmen portraits turned out exactly as Shannon had imagined. Dark wood, game room energy, six groomsmen who looked like they were having a genuinely good time — which they were.
The ceremony at Arpa Inlet.
At 5pm, with guests already seated at the Arpa Inlet beach since 4:45, Shannon walked down the aisle with her dad. A friend officiated — which meant the words were personal, specific, and nothing like the standard resort ceremony script. Quick, honest, and completely theirs.
The ceremony itself moved fast — as Shannon had predicted — and ended with an exit song that sent everyone directly into cocktail hour. No waiting around. No dead time between ceremony and celebration.
Cocktail hour at the Arpa Gazebo — with a live soloist.
The cocktail hour ran from 5:30pm at the Arpa Gazebo, with a soloist performing live throughout. There is something specific that a live musician does to a cocktail hour — it slows people down in the best possible way, makes them stay in conversations longer, makes the whole thing feel less like a transition and more like its own event. Combined with the Gazebo setting at Hard Rock Riviera Maya and the late January light, it was one of the most visually and sonically complete cocktail hours we have documented at this venue.
Shannon and Sarp joined their guests at 6:40pm — after a couple portrait session that ran from 6:05 to 6:40, with the 6:39pm sunset hitting exactly where we needed it to.

The 6:05pm couple portraits gave us exactly what a January sunset at Hard Rock Riviera Maya delivers — warm, directional Pacific light hitting the beach from a low angle, the kind of golden quality that makes every frame look like it was lit intentionally. Shannon and Sarp were relaxed, genuinely connected, and exactly the kind of couple that makes a photographer's job easy — not because they knew how to pose, but because they clearly just liked being around each other.
The reception at Bridge Terrace.
The reception at Bridge Terrace started at 7pm with the couple's entrance, followed immediately by their first dance. Then the father-daughter dance — Shannon and Greg — and the mother-son dance, Sarp with his mother Sebu. Speeches. Dinner. Cake cutting. And then, at some point before the bouquet toss, Shannon stopped the room.
Her mother's birthday. The bouquet dedication. A moment that was not on any formal timeline, that required no coordination, that nobody in the room expected — and that became the emotional center of the entire night.
The dance floor opened at 8:30pm. The photo booth from JJ Studio ran from 8 to 10pm. Coverage ended at 10pm — with a dance floor still very much in motion.
