Destination Wedding Photographer in Mexico

Mexico is one of the most beautiful places in the world to get married. Warm light, dramatic landscapes, intimate venues, and a culture that treats celebration as something sacred — it creates the kind of conditions where a wedding stops being an event and starts being an experience.
We are Luis and Génessis, a husband-and-wife team of wedding photographers and filmmakers based in the Riviera Maya. We have documented more than 250 weddings across Mexico — from the turquoise coastline of Cancún and the cenotes of Tulum, to the wine country of Valle de Guadalupe and the desert shores of Cabo.
Our approach is the same everywhere we go: no forced poses, no manufactured moments. We follow your day as it unfolds, capture what is real, and deliver images and films that bring you back to exactly how it felt.
If you are a couple from the United States or Canada planning a destination wedding somewhere in Mexico — you are in the right place.
What makes Mexico the perfect destination wedding location?
Couples choose Mexico for many reasons — the venues, the weather, the all-inclusive convenience, the accessibility from the US and Canada. But what keeps them coming back in their memories is something harder to define. It is the quality of the light at golden hour over the Caribbean. It is the way a reception feels when it is open to the ocean breeze. It is the warmth of a culture that knows how to celebrate.
As destination wedding photographers who live and work here, we understand that intimately. We know the venues, the coordinators, the light at every hour of the day, and the rhythm that makes a wedding in Mexico feel different from anywhere else. That local knowledge shapes everything — from how we plan your timeline to where we position ourselves to capture the moments that matter most.
Our coverage areas across Mexico
We document weddings throughout Mexico, with deep experience in the destinations where American and Canadian couples most love to marry. Each location has its own character, its own light, and its own energy — and we bring the same intentional, documentary approach to all of them.
CANCUN
The gateway to the Mexican Caribbean. Cancún offers world-class resort venues, stunning beachfront settings, and a destination wedding infrastructure that makes planning from abroad seamless. Whether you are marrying at a boutique property or a grand all-inclusive resort, Cancún delivers the kind of light and landscape that photographs beautifully at every hour of the day.
RIVIERA MAYA
Stretching south from Cancún through Playa del Carmen and Akumal, the Riviera Maya is home to some of the most stunning destination wedding venues in the world. Lush jungle, pristine beaches, and iconic resorts create a backdrop that rewards a documentary approach — real moments against extraordinary settings.
CABO
Where the desert meets the sea. Los Cabos — encompassing Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo — offers a dramatically different visual landscape from the Caribbean coast. Volcanic rock formations, deep blue Pacific water, and world-class resort properties create a setting that is both rugged and refined. For couples who want something visually unexpected, Cabo delivers every time.
COSTA MUJERES
One of the fastest-growing luxury wedding destinations on the Mexican Caribbean, Costa Mujeres sits just north of Cancún on a pristine stretch of coastline. Home to exclusive all-inclusive resorts and intimate boutique properties, it offers couples a quieter, more secluded experience without sacrificing world-class service.
PLAYA DEL CARMEN
A vibrant coastal town with a relaxed sophistication that attracts couples looking for something between resort grandeur and boutique intimacy. Cobblestone streets, rooftop venues, and the energy of 5th Avenue make Playa del Carmen a destination with its own distinct character.
VALLE DE GUADALUPE
Mexico's Napa Valley. Nestled in the hills of Baja California, Valle de Guadalupe is one of the most exciting emerging wedding destinations in the country — and one of the most photogenic places we have ever worked. Vineyard ceremonies, golden afternoon light, hacienda venues, and an intimate, unhurried atmosphere make Valle de Guadalupe unlike anywhere else in Mexico. If you are dreaming of a wine country wedding without leaving the continent, this is it.
puerto vallarta
Where the Sierra Madre mountains meet the Pacific Ocean, Puerto Vallarta and the surrounding Riviera Nayarit offer one of the most visually dramatic and diverse wedding landscapes in all of Mexico. From ultra-luxury clifftop resorts in Punta Mita to bohemian beach ceremonies in Sayulita, this destination has a setting for every vision — and a Pacific golden hour that no Caribbean destination can replicate.
isla mujeres
A small island just 20 minutes by ferry from Cancún, Isla Mujeres offers something the mainland simply cannot — complete escape. Narrow streets, turquoise water on every side, and a pace that makes your wedding feel like a private celebration at the edge of the Caribbean. For couples who want intimacy, natural beauty, and a setting that genuinely surprises their guests, Isla Mujeres consistently delivers.
TULUM
No destination in Mexico has captured the imagination of destination couples quite like Tulum. Cenotes, jungle ruins, open-sky venues, and a golden-hour light that feels almost cinematic by nature — Tulum is where documentary wedding photography and the natural environment speak the same language.
PLAYA MUJERES
A private, ultra-luxury enclave just minutes from Cancún, Playa Mujeres is where couples come when they want an intimate, exclusive destination wedding experience. With a handful of high-end properties and a stunning natural setting, it is one of the most beautiful and underrated wedding destinations in all of Mexico.
Our approach to destination wedding photography across Mexico
Every destination is different. The venues change, the light changes, the energy changes. But our philosophy stays constant wherever we travel.
We do not pose couples into positions that feel foreign to them. We do not manufacture emotion or recreate moments that have already passed. We show up, we pay attention, and we let your wedding day tell its own story — with all the texture, spontaneity, and beauty that comes with it.
As a husband-and-wife team, Génessis and I bring a dual perspective to every wedding we document. Two sets of eyes, two cameras, one shared visual language. You never miss the moments that happen simultaneously — the groom seeing you for the first time and your mother's reaction happening in the same instant, captured from both sides.
We have documented weddings at all-inclusive resorts and private villas, in jungle cenotes and vineyard courtyards, under open sky and candlelit ceilings. What we have learned across all of them is simple: the best images come when couples feel relaxed, trusted, and free to actually experience their wedding day.
That is what we are here to give you.
What to expect when booking a destination wedding photographer in Mexico
Planning a destination wedding from the US or Canada involves a level of trust that local weddings simply do not require. You are choosing vendors you may never meet in person before your wedding day, in a country whose logistics you may not know intimately.
We make that process as clear and confident as possible.
Every couple we work with begins with a Zoom consultation — a real conversation where we learn about your vision, your venue, your timeline, and what matters most to you on your wedding day. From there, we guide you through every step: timeline planning, vendor coordination, travel logistics, and the details that make the difference between a stressful wedding week and one you actually enjoy.
We work with a curated network of wedding coordinators, planners, and vendors across Mexico. If you need a recommendation, we have one. If you have questions about a venue we have not shot at before, we will do the research. You are not hiring a photographer who shows up on the day. You are bringing on a team that is invested in your experience from the first conversation to the final delivery.

FAQ

Do you travel throughout all of Mexico?
Yes. While we are based in the Riviera Maya, we document weddings throughout Mexico — including Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, Punta Mita, San Miguel de Allende, Oaxaca, and beyond. Travel fees may apply for destinations outside our primary coverage area, and we are always transparent about those costs upfront.
How far in advance should we book?
We document a maximum of six weddings per month, which means availability fills quickly — especially for peak season dates between October and April. We recommend reaching out at least 9 to 12 months in advance to secure your date.
Do you offer both photo and video?
Yes. We offer photography only, videography only, and combined photo and video collections. As a husband-and-wife team, we are able to provide both services with a unified creative vision and a single point of contact throughout your planning process.
What is your style?
Documentary and cinematic. We capture your wedding as it happens — real moments, genuine emotion, no forced poses. The result is a gallery and film that feel like your actual wedding day, not a styled recreation of it.
Can we have a Zoom call before booking?
Always. We never ask anyone to book without talking first. A conversation helps us understand your vision and helps you get a sense of who we are and how we work. It is the most important step in the process.
