cancun wedding photographer & filmmaker

You already chose Cancún. You probably already have your venue. Now you need a photographer you can trust to guide your day, protect the moments that matter, and deliver a story worth keeping forever.
We are Luis and Génessis — a husband-and-wife team based in Cancún with 250+ weddings documented in this area since 2018. This is our home market. We know it better than anywhere else we work — and that knowledge shapes everything about how we show up on your wedding day.

What it actually feels like to work with us.
Most couples planning a destination wedding in Cancún tell us the same thing when we get on our first Zoom call: they are worried about two things. The first is whether their photos will look like everyone else's — the same resort backdrop, the same poses, the same gallery they have seen a hundred times on Pinterest. The second is whether they will actually be present on their wedding day, or whether they will spend it being directed from one spot to the next.
Both of those worries disappear when you work with us.
Our no-posing approach means we never stop your day to set up a shot. We move through your wedding as it happens — noticing the moments before they peak, positioning ourselves without interrupting anything, and documenting what is already there. The nervous laugh right before the vows. The way your dad holds your hand a second longer than expected. The unscripted joy of the dance floor at midnight when nobody is thinking about the camera anymore.
The result is a gallery that looks like your wedding — not a version of it.

Why a husband-and-wife team changes everything.

When you hire Luis and Génessis, you are not hiring a photographer with a second shooter you have never met. You are hiring two people who have been working together since 2018, who share the same visual language, and who know exactly what the other is doing at every moment of your day.
What that means in practice: while Luis is capturing the ceremony from the front, Génessis is documenting your mother's reaction from the side. While the first dance is happening, both angles are covered. The moment your dad sees you for the first time and your partner's reaction happening simultaneously — both captured, from both sides, without either of you ever knowing we were positioned to get it.
Two perspectives. One consistent story. No coordination between two separate teams, no mismatched aesthetics, no wondering who is going to show up on your wedding day.
How we prepare for your Cancún wedding — before the day even starts.
The work we do before your wedding day is what makes the day itself feel effortless. Here is what that looks like.
The Zoom consultation.
Every couple we work with starts with a real conversation after you submit the contact form — It is not a sales call, not a questionnaire. We want to know about your venue, your vision, your timeline, and what matters most to you.
By the end of the call, we have a preliminary timeline built around the best light at your specific venue in Cancún and you have a clear picture of exactly how your day is going to flow. We will explain you about the way we work, the "No posing" method we use and all the hiring process and Next steps.
We will haver a total of 2 or 3 zoom meetings before your wedding day, so, believe me when I say that we do our best into plan something specific and amazing for you.
Timeline planning around the light.

After 250+ weddings in Cancún and the surrounding area, we know what the light looks like at every major venue at every hour of the day. We know when golden hour hits the lagoon at Playa Mujeres. We know the exact angle the afternoon sun takes at the beach ceremony spaces along the hotel zone. We know which venues have challenging midday light and how to work around it.
We build your timeline around protecting the golden hour — not as a nice-to-have, but as the foundation of how we plan every wedding day. The difference between a ceremony that ends at 5pm and one that ends at 6:30pm is not one hour. It is the difference between ordinary light and the kind of light that makes people cry when they see their photos.

Venue logistics and coordinator relationships

We have worked with most of the coordinators at the major venues in Cancún.
We know who needs what information and when, how to navigate the vendor fee process at each property, and how to make sure the day runs smoothly without you ever having to manage the relationship between your photographer and your resort.
Of course we know some tricks and tips that we will share with you to create a way better experience on your wedding day.

What you will receive — and when.

The Grand Sneak Peek — within 72 hours.
Within 72 hours of your wedding, you receive a curated preview of 80 to 110 edited images.
Not a raw dump — a carefully selected first look at your story, edited to the same standard as your full gallery. Most couples share these before their honeymoon is over.
Your full gallery — within 6 to 8 weeks.
Your complete edited gallery — between 600 and 800 images on a standard 8-hour wedding — delivered through a private, secure online gallery.
Every image edited by Luis and Génessis. No outsourcing, no batch processing, no shortcuts.
Your cinematic wedding film.
Available in 2, 5, 10, and 15-minute versions — plus raw footage options for the ceremony, speeches, and first dance. Edited to music that fits your day.
Delivered 5 to 6 weeks after your photos. As a husband-and-wife team covering both photo and video simultaneously, your film and your gallery were made by the same two people with the same creative vision — and it shows.

Common questions from couples planning a Cancun wedding.

1. We are camera shy and worried about looking awkward in photos. What do you do differently?
This is the most common thing couples tell us before their wedding — and the most common thing they forget about by the end of the day. Our no-posing approach means we never put you in a position that feels foreign to you. We create a relaxed environment, move through your day without stopping it, and document what naturally happens. The couples who were most worried about looking awkward consistently end up with the most natural, real images in our entire portfolio.
2. How do you handle the vendor fee at Cancún resorts?
Most major resorts in the Cancún area charge an outside vendor fee to bring in your own photographer and filmmaker.
This is a fee you negotiate directly with your resort — not something we manage on your end. What we can tell you is that we have navigated this process at virtually every major property in the area, so we know exactly what to expect at each venue and can answer any questions you have before you reach out to your coordinator.
One thing worth knowing: some resorts offer an alternative to the vendor fee — they allow your photographer to stay on property for a minimum number of nights instead. Whether that makes more financial sense depends on the specific resort and your situation. We are happy to walk you through the options at your venue on our Zoom call so you can make the decision that works best for you. Either way — staying on property or entering as an external vendor — works equally well for us.
3. What is the best time of year for a Cancún wedding?
December through April is the ideal window for a wedding in Cancún — stable weather, consistent sunshine, low humidity, and beaches free of sargassum.
From mid to late April, sargassum seaweed begins arriving on the Caribbean coast and typically stays through September, which can affect the appearance of beach ceremony spaces. September through November brings the highest rainfall of the year.
If your date falls outside the December to April window, reach out and we will give you an honest assessment of what to expect at your specific venue and time of year.
4. Will you be familiar with our specific venue?
Almost certainly yes. After 250+ weddings in the Cancún area since 2018, we have worked at most of the major resorts and venues in the hotel zone, Costa Mujeres, and Playa Mujeres.
If we have not photographed at your specific venue, we research it thoroughly before we arrive — light angles, ceremony locations, coordinator contacts, and the specific logistics that make each property different.
You will never feel like we are discovering your venue for the first time on your wedding day.
5. How far in advance should we book?
s early as possible. We document a maximum of six weddings per month, and peak season dates in Cancún — October through April — fill quickly.
If you have a specific date in mind, reach out now and we will tell you right away whether it is still available.
6. Our resort has a preferred photographer. Why should we pay the outside vendor fee to bring you in?
This is one of the most common questions we get — and it deserves an honest answer.
Resort preferred photographers are not bad photographers. But the way they operate is fundamentally different from how we work. A preferred photographer at a large Cancún resort may document 15, 20, or more weddings per month across multiple properties. You may not know exactly who is photographing your wedding until a few days before the day or even the same day. The style you fell in love with on the website may belong to a senior photographer whose work is used for marketing — while a different photographer is assigned to your wedding.
We document a maximum of six weddings per month. Luis and Génessis are at every single one. The work you see in our portfolio is the work you will receive — because the same two people who created it will be at your wedding.
Your wedding photos and film are the only part of your wedding investment that grows in value over time. The flowers, the cake, the open bar — experienced once and remembered in fragments. The images and the film are what you will watch and share for the rest of your lives, and what your children will watch after you.
Whether the vendor fee is worth it is a decision only you can make. What we can tell you is that every couple who has paid it to work with us has told us it was one of the best decisions they made.

WHY GET MARRIED IN CANCÚN?

WORLD-CLASS RESORTS, TURQUOISE WATER, AND THE MOST RELIABLE WEDDING INFRASTRUCTURE IN MEXICO
Cancún is the most established destination wedding market in Mexico — and for good reason. Direct flights from virtually every major city in the US and Canada. All-inclusive resorts that handle the logistics so you do not have to.
A Caribbean coastline that photographs beautifully at every hour of the day. And a destination wedding infrastructure built specifically to serve couples planning from thousands of miles away.
But what makes a Cancún wedding truly memorable is not the resort amenities or the convenience. It is the light. The turquoise Caribbean water at golden hour. The way the late afternoon sun transforms a beach ceremony space into something cinematic. The sky at sunset over the lagoon at Playa Mujeres. These are the moments that make couples cry when they see their photos — and they happen every single day in Cancún for couples who planned their timeline around them.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO GET MARRIED IN CANCÚN?

December through April is the ideal window for a wedding in Cancún.
This is when the weather is most stable — low humidity, consistent sunshine, and beaches free of sargassum seaweed. The light during this period is warm, directional, and consistently beautiful for outdoor ceremonies and golden hour portraits.
From mid to late April, sargassum begins arriving on the Caribbean coast and typically stays through September — which affects the appearance of beach ceremony spaces. September through November brings the highest rainfall of the year, with some weeks seeing rain on 30 to 40 percent of days.
July and August are warm with occasional afternoon showers but rarely affect wedding days directly — the rain tends to come and go quickly, and the light can still be beautiful.
Our honest recommendation: if you have flexibility on your date, aim for December through March. If your date falls outside that window, reach out — we will give you an honest, specific assessment of what to expect at your venue and time of year.
WHAT MAKES CANCÚN DIFFERENT FROM OTHER BEACH DESTINATIONS IN MEXICO?
Cancún offers something that Tulum, Puerto Vallarta, and Cabo simply cannot match: the combination of direct accessibility, world-class resort infrastructure, and the most consistently photogenic Caribbean coastline in Mexico.
Compared to Tulum, Cancún is easier to plan from abroad — more established vendor networks, more resort options at every price point, and logistics that have been refined over decades of destination weddings. Compared to Cabo, the water is warmer, the beaches are softer, and the Caribbean color palette — that impossible turquoise — photographs in a way that the Pacific simply does not.
And compared to anywhere else in Mexico, Cancún has the deepest concentration of photographers, planners, and wedding vendors who have done this hundreds of times. The infrastructure here is built for couples like you — coming from far away, trusting local professionals with the most important day of your lives.
WEATHER AND LIGHT: WHAT TO EXPECT IN CANCÚN
Cancún has a warm tropical climate year-round — which is exactly why it became one of the world's most popular destination wedding markets. But not all months are equal, and understanding the light and weather patterns will help you plan a day that looks as good as it feels.
The light: The Caribbean coast produces some of the most beautiful golden hour light we have ever photographed. The combination of warm tropical sun, turquoise water, and white sand creates a color palette that is almost impossible to replicate elsewhere. We plan every couple's timeline around protecting this window — approximately 90 minutes before sunset — because it consistently produces the most emotionally resonant images of any wedding day.
The weather: December through April is the most reliable season. Rainfall is rare, temperatures are comfortable, and the beaches are clean and sargassum-free. May through August is warmer with occasional showers — manageable but worth knowing. September through November brings the most rainfall, with some weeks seeing rain on multiple days.
Our approach: Regardless of the time of year, we plan your timeline to work with the natural conditions at your specific venue. We have photographed beautiful weddings in every season — the key is preparation, not just luck.
PLANNING TIPS FOR YOUR CANCÚN DESTINATION WEDDING
After 250+ weddings in this market, here are the things we consistently share with couples who are planning from the US or Canada:
Book your photographer early
Peak season dates in Cancún — December through April — fill 12 to 18 months in advance. The vendors you really want are the first ones to go.
Understand the vendor fee process
Most all-inclusive resorts in Cancún charge an outside vendor fee to bring in your own photographer. We have navigated this process dozens of times and will guide you through exactly what to expect at your specific venue.
Hire a local wedding planner or coordinator
Your resort coordinator works for the hotel. A wedding planner works for you. After watching hundreds of couples navigate this, we consistently see that the couples with their own planner have smoother, more personal days.
Build your timeline around the light — not the venue's schedule
The difference between a ceremony that ends at 5pm and one that ends at 6:30pm is not one hour. It is the quality of every portrait you will ever take from your wedding day. We will help you fight for that golden hour window — respectfully, but persistently.
Plan your guests' experience
Cancún offers incredible options for welcome dinners, day excursions, and farewell brunches. Your guests traveled far to be with you — help them make the most of it.
Cancún Wedding resorts — Where We Work
After 250+ weddings in this area since 2018, we have documented love stories at most of the major resorts across the Cancún hotel zone, Costa Mujeres, and Playa Mujeres. Every venue here has its own character, its own light, and its own energy — and we know each one well enough to tell you honestly which spaces photograph best, which ceremony times work for the light, and what to expect on your wedding day before you even arrive.

secrets playa blanca
Adults-only, intimate, and consistently one of the most photogenic venues in the entire area.
All the wedding little spaces, like the bridal suite, the gazebo and the hidden terrace, architecture and little gardens makes this resort amazing. Also, the golden hour light is extraordinary. One of our personal favorites after lots of weddings here.

Moon Palace
One of the largest resorts in the Cancún area, with a Catholic chapel on property that is one of the most requested ceremony spaces in the market.
Requires good logistics planning, but we know this property well and love what it delivers at golden hour.

Hyatt Ziva
Strong service, beautiful beach settings, and the reliability of the Hyatt brand. A natural choice for couples who want a dependable, well-run experience with beautiful ceremony options.
Hyatt Ziva is located at Punta Cancun at Cancun's hotel zone heart. It has a couple amazing spots for ceremony, both located on a little cliff with ocean view.
A newer, modern property with stunning design and some of the most visually interesting ceremony spaces in the Costa Mujeres corridor.
Still emerging as a wedding destination, but we love what we have seen here.

A newer property with beautiful modern design and consistently excellent service.
The ceremony spaces here have some of the best natural framing we have worked with in Costa Mujeres. A beautiful resort and super family friendly.

nizuc resort & spa
A non all-inclusive five-star sanctuary at the southernmost tip of the hotel zone — 29 acres of private beachfront, six world-class restaurants, and a 30,000-square-foot spa.
The ceremony spaces here range from an intimate oceanfront terrace to a beach setting that photographs beautifully at every hour. One of the quietest and most refined venues in Cancún — far from the party energy of the hotel corridor, and all the better for it.

hard rock hotel cancun
High energy and unmistakable personality. Hard Rock brings its music-infused experience to one of the best stretches of beach in the hotel zone — multiple ceremony locations, a strong events team, and the kind of guest entertainment that keeps a wedding weekend going from welcome dinner to farewell brunch.
For couples who want their wedding to feel like a celebration from the first moment their guests arrive.

riu palace costa mujeres
A well-designed adults-only property on one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in Costa Mujeres. Clean architecture, dependable service, and ceremony spaces — including a beach option and a gazebo — that photograph beautifully at golden hour. A solid choice for couples who want a polished, well-organized experience without the complexity of a larger resort.

dreams playa mujeres
The garden spaces here are enormous, with lush tropical landscaping that creates a natural frame for ceremony and reception setups that feels completely removed from the standard resort experience.
For couples who want a beautiful venue with genuine space, strong service, and a beach backdrop that actually photographs well — Dreams Playa Mujeres consistently delivers.

PLANNING A CANCuN ELOPEMENT? WE HAVE GOT YOU.
Not every couple wants a hundred guests and a four-course dinner. Some of the most powerful, emotional, and visually extraordinary weddings we have documented have been intimate ceremonies — just the two of you, or a small circle of the people who matter most.
Cancún offers remarkable settings for intimate celebrations. Private beach access through boutique venues. Intimate gazebo spaces at major resorts. Private villas with Caribbean views and complete exclusivity. And the natural backdrop of the Caribbean coast, which needs almost no additional decoration to feel extraordinary.
What an elopement with us looks like:
We build your timeline around the moments that matter to you — vows, portraits, a private dinner, whatever feels right. We move slowly, without pressure, and give you the space to actually feel what is happening. The result is a gallery that does not look like a production. It looks like the best day of your lives.
If you are considering an elopement in Cancún, reach out. We will help you think through the venue, the timing, the light, and everything in between.
