Addison and Shayne used the first part of this hour for couple portraits and bridal party photos, joining their guests halfway through — which is exactly how a cocktail hour should work. Your guests are warm, the music is playing, the drinks are flowing, and when you walk in you get to actually enjoy it instead of just survive it.

The reception started at 7pm on the Portofino Rooftop at Secrets Playa Blanca — elevated above the resort with open sky in every direction and the Caribbean visible beyond the property edge. The entrance. The first dance. The father-daughter dance with Bruce — which landed differently after watching that first look earlier in the day. The mother-groom dance with Cheri. Dinner. Speeches. Cake cutting.
And then — water drums.
At some point during the dancing, a group of percussionists with water drums took over a portion of the floor. It is the kind of entertainment detail that sounds interesting in planning and turns out to be extraordinary in person — rhythmic, physical, completely unlike anything a DJ can produce, and exactly the kind of surprise that makes a wedding feel like an experience rather than a series of scheduled events.
The bouquet toss happened. The garter toss happened. The party photos Addison had specifically requested — genuine, unposed, people actually celebrating — happened exactly as she had imagined them.
